Great real estate photography starts long before the camera ever comes out. According to Las Vegas real estate photographer Brayden Snyder of BSPV Studios, a properly prepared home photographs brighter, larger, and more inviting which leads to stronger online engagement and more buyer interest.
Here are five simple but powerful ways to make sure your home is camera-ready.
1. Declutter countertops and open surfaces
Clear kitchen counters, bathroom vanities, coffee tables, desks, and nightstands. Too many items create visual noise and make rooms feel smaller than they actually are. Clean, open surfaces allow the architecture and finishes of the home to stand out. Which is exactly what buyers are shopping for.
Think hotel, not lived-in.
2. Let the light in: open blinds and turn on all lights
Natural light is one of the biggest selling points in any home. Open every blind and curtain to let sunlight flood the space. Turn on all interior lights to eliminate dark corners and create a warm, welcoming feel.
Also be sure to turn off ceiling fans, spinning blades can blur on camera and become distracting in photos.
3. Refresh bathrooms for a clean, spa-like look
Bathrooms should feel fresh, bright, and spotless. Wipe down sinks, faucets, mirrors, and counters. Put away toiletries, toothbrushes, and personal items. Close toilet lids and straighten shower curtains.
A clean bathroom instantly elevates the perceived value of the home.
4. Clear the exterior for maximum curb appeal
First impressions matter. Remove cars from the driveway and the street in front of the home. Roll trash bins out of sight. Straighten patio furniture and sweep entryways.
A clean exterior makes the home feel more open, more luxurious, and more move-in ready.
5. Remove personal items and simplify decor
Buyers want to imagine themselves living in the home. Family photos, mail, pet bowls, excessive decor, and personal collections can distract from that vision.
Keep styling minimal and intentional. Less is more.
A well-prepared home doesn’t just photograph better, it sells better. These small details make a massive difference in how your listing performs online.
